Infrared (IR) vs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)

Below is a comparison between IR and RFID technology. CaraFlow has teamed up with Versus Technology, Inc. to incorporate infrared (IR) technology into the NurseSaver System with tags placed on every piece of portable medical equipment. An IR signal can be con- tained within a patient room allowing for effective equipment tracking and patient location. This technology ensures enhanced asset utilization and increased charge caputre accuracy.

• Localized within a room, contained by walls • Bounces off walls and objects

• Localized within an area, not contained by walls • Signal can bleed through walls causing confusion of where equipment or patient is located

• Requires more sensors due to 16ft signal range
